Reflecting on these prompts could help you gauge your working style, have a bit more control over your day and set boundaries with clarity and confidence. Let me know what else you’d add to this list?

Time of the day & energy

  • What time of the day are you most productive?
  • When do you have the most energy for teamwork?
  • How many hours a day do you need for independent work?
  • What could a good EOD and EOW shutdown routine look like?

Sensemaking

  • How do you process information — solo/group, verbal/written, quiet/chaos?
  • Are you naturally a big-picture of details-oriented thinker?
  • What is your tolerance for uncertainty at work?

Communication

  • Do you need daily, bi-weekly or weekly touchpoints with your team?
  • How comfortable are you asking for help, and through which formats–slack (semi-formal), casual run-in (informal), email/ meeting (formal)?
  • What is your preferred meeting style — in-person, walking, video, or audio-only?
  • Which communication medium are you most skilled in — written, verbal, non-verbal, visual, or audio-visual?

Psychological safety

  • How do you need to feel in order to do good work — rested, appreciated, sense of ownership, autonomy, or something else?
  • How often do you like to hear/give feedback, and in what format?
  • How could you communicate your needs and style effectively and safely?
